half the price and twice as cool
A friend just alerted me to a duo of Australian designers called Snack On (you can tell they’re Aussies because they spell kilometers “kilometres,” and their names are Bjorn and Surya: Aussie names if I ever heard ‘em) who are selling belts made from inner tubes. Here’s the thing, though: they cost $40 (55 Australian dollars including shipping), and they’re not half as cool as my belts made from old tires (“tyres” in Aussie-speak). I bet they’re really stretchy, too.
So, if you’re looking for a solid, good-lookin’, keep-yer-pants-up belt made from recycled stuff — one with a nice chrome buckle, no less, not some dinky piece of metal — look no further than ZPG. They’re only $20, including domestic shipping!
If you’re looking for something to do with old inner tubes, I suggest sending ‘em (mtn bike tubes) to Alchemy Goods, or (road bike tubes) to BikeFurniture.com, or making a giant rubber ball, or some wacky sex-toy, or some goat-torture device out of them. Anything but a belt — Jesus in a sidecar!
